Playing Mommy

So I just got done babysitting all day long and for the first time in a long time it brought me back to a place of how excited I am to be a mom. I really can't wait...well I can wait, but I can't explain how enthused I really am about it! Like way excited :). Anyways, these two kids in the pic above (Josh and Jillian), are my favorites...I know its not good to pic favorites, but I have watched them since Jill was 4months old and now shes 3! I can't believe it. It also made me again so thankful for my mommy...being a mom is hard, sacrifice is a good word that happens often, you learn to be completely selfless. Its a good lesson to be learned in life. Enough said...I just love playing mommy.

♥ SANCTIFICATION ♥

The past two months have been the toughest yet hard to explain but the most amazing months of my life to this point. I can't even explain to you how faithful God has been to me. I have really come to the full realization of God's awesome grace, His loving kindness, and His complete control over our lives. He has this incredible plan for each one of us...and the most important part of that plan is bringing glory to Himself...how does He do this? By sanctifying us, and in that sanctification process He molds us more into Christ's image that we might be able to glorify Him better. We aren't here for ourselves, but for Him. In everything we do we should be glorifying the Lord...its not as easy as it seems, but by depending on the Lord to depend on Him, He is able to be strong in our weaknesses. Do I know what's next in my life? No, but I trust my Almighty Father with my life, and know that as I follow His leading, one step at a time, He will reveal to me more of His "awesomeness" and more of His glory. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Praise Him for our trials, praise Him for our blessings...Praise Him in all things. God's good all the time :). I can't say that enough.
Here are some verses the Lord has given me:
"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will recieve the reward of inheritance; for you serve the Lord Jesus Christ."
---Colossians 3:23-24
"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going" ---Hebrews 11:8
"Search me, 0 God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Ps. 139:23,24).
"Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" --Psalm 66:20
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." --1 John 4:7

What is God's Will For Our Life?

One of the most typical questions by a Christian is definitely "What is God's will for my life...how do I find it?". Somewhere in our finite brains we try to discover the exact plan of action God has set before us for our very lives. Yet, so often we don't want God's will unless it is "comfortable", "safe", "fun", or in a sense the way we would like it. How dare God call me to be a missionary in Africa...I can't do that. Or how dare God call me to marry someone who has this profession, I wanted someone with this profession. How dare God test my faith during this difficult time in my life, doesn't He understand life is hard enough for me?!?! How often are we so puzzled about why things happen, what we are supposed to do next in our life, how we are supposed to know exactly what God wants, who are we supposed to marry, what are we supposed to be, what friends are we supposed to hang out with? It seems like this loving God would want us to know this right...that way we can be obedient to Him in whatever He might call us to...that way we could follow "HIS" path for our life. Yet, will we ever know God's EXACT will for our lives...well, that is a difficult question and that is up for much debate.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you." --Romans 12:1-3

Instead of debating about it, or instead of trying to discover His exact will...why don't you instead serve God right where He has you. First of all, He has called you as it speaks above in Romans, to offer our bodies as living sacrifices pleasing to God....to not conform to the world. Don't compromise! Part of God's will...His most definite will for your life and mine is to glorify Him in all you do. If you are living a life that is pleasing to Him (not compromising, striving to glorify Him in everything, trusting Him with your whole heart, reading His word daily, and truly passionately following Him and serving Him with your mind and heart). That seems easy enough...yeah right. It's hard living this life of faith! You will be tested, you will go through the fire, you will be persecuted, you will struggle, our flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing. Cling to God, surrender to Him, you can't make it on your own. You must depend on Him to depend on Him. Yet, as it says above, to discern the Lord's perfect will we must have a transformed mind...we must not conform to this world. That will make us "unpopular" or "different"...but we are not here to please man but rather to please God.

What is Gods will for your life? Glorify Him in all you do, seek Him, passionately follow hard after Him, keep your eyes on Him, He will guide your footsteps...take one step at a time, don't look back, and watch the amazing story God has for your life unfold!

"Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path." ---Psalm 119:105

"...give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
---1 Thessalonians 5:18

"It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;"
---1 Thessalonians 4:3

And remember....God will meet your needs:
"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
---Philippians 4:19

GLORIFY CHRIST TODAY...IT WILL BE WELL WORTH YOUR EFFORT! :)

Palm Springs :)

MEG AND ME....FUTURE ROOMIE, I LOVE HER

NEW CAR!

ASH AND ME

ALL OF US! :)

TOAST? (its just martenelli's dont worry)

I LOVE THEM

BLONDE...BROWN...BLACK??
So this weekend I had a wonderful time in Palm Springs with a ton of girls from Biola.

And God really revealed to me His perfectness. What I mean is this...God has showed me so clearly that He will use the trials in my life to make me who I am today...more like Him. And we will always be going through different trials and chaos in our life to make is more complete in Him.

Philippians 2:1-3
"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."

Please Pray For Them

Treasure It!!!

Treasure what you might ask???

"Do you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have recieved from God? You are not your own, you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your whole body." --1 Corinthians 6:19-20

" For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness."
--1 Thessalonians 4:3-7

"Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." --2 Timothy 2:22

Your Purity!

Now when God called us to possess sanctified vessels (bodies), He meant it! And purity doesn't mean only abstaining from sexual things, it means in everything, in mind, heart, emotions, physical being, and spirit. In all that you do...remain pure!

I participated in a purity conference in June of this year and was astounded at how rampant sexual immorality was today among teens and even among Christian teens. It is disheartening to hear, and really just so sad. Joseph realized when tempted by Potiphar's wife that he couldn't sin against His God! What a view to have...yes, sexual immorality is a sin against your own body and that of the other person you are with, but first and foremost it is a sin against your holy and loving father...almighty God!

Purity is so important. You are the Lord's treasure. God values you so much...I mean come'on He sent His only son to die for YOU! He has your best intentions at heart. He isn't holding you back from doing something that we might look at as "fun" or "enjoyable", but He is protecting you. He knows the consequences of immorality...of not treasuring that purity that He has instilled in you. It hurts. Now if you have messed up or screwed up in the past, know that the Lord shows much grace and mercy with a repentant heart. He is waiting with loving arms to accept you back and to make you pure and new again! So don't fret. He is in the business of restoration.

The best gift you could give to your future spouse is yourself...all of you! That is something money can't buy. Once its gone its gone...now again God restores, but with sin there are consequences. My purity ring is a daily reminder of the purity that I have promised before the Lord. My ring has three things: a cross, a heart, and a key. The heart reminds me of the purity of my heart and body, the key reminds me of the gift I can one day give to my future husband, and the cross reminds me that I could never live a pure and holy life without daily leaning on the Lord. "For I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phillipians 4:13).

You have an amazing future ahead of you. Right now keep God your number one love! Keep Him your focus. Ask Him for the strength to get you through the hard times of your life, when purity seems so hard...He will do it! Don't let anyone do anything to diminish that full joy and pleasure God has in store for you! God is good all the time and He has the best in store for you! Treasure that purity ladies and gents...it will be well worth the wait, I promise you that!!!!!!!

Declare HIS Glory

So this weekend was quite an adventure! Friday night I went down to Laguna and had a sweet time of fellowship with some really old friends, and some new ones too, and spent some awesome time in worship with the Lord. It was so refreshing to see a group of people who are so passionately in love with their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and people whose one and only desire is to glorify Him in all they do. That's a high calling in life. I think sometimes as Christians we have a wishy-washy faith. In that we decide what we think is "ok" without compromising. But ultimately, we are to glorify God in all that we do! That means to glorify Him in the friends we hang out with, at our jobs, out our schools, when we are at the grocery store, when we are alone in our rooms, EVERYWHERE and in EVERYTHING! That's a high calling. But take heed to what God promised to Joshua in Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Something God really showed me this weekend is what mature Christian living looks like.
"The key to overcoming anxiety, fear, worry, fretting, and emotionalinstability is to have the right priorities in our thought life; to be deliberatethinkers. And the secret is to be other-oriented, not self-centered; to fixour thoughts on God, others and our blessings–not our problems. That’s theessence of mature Christian living.”

In order to live righteously, we must have righteous thoughts, and we are never going to have these thoughts if everything that we focus on is ourselves. We must prioritize and discipline our thoughts, and then our words and actions will follow.

We have the power of our words. You can tear someone apart with what you say, or you can encourage and build them up. What goes in is ultimately what goes out. If what you feed your spiritual mind is not of the Lord and isn't Godly, then what will come out in your life will not be true Christian fruit, but if you are feeding your mind righteous things, the word of God, on a constant daily basis, then the fruit will be very evident in your life! No doubt in that.

One day we will all stand before the Lord, and with the blood of Christ He will welcome us with loving arms, as a forgiving Father. Take the high road, be the one who acts like Christ, imitate Him, love HIm first, and that love for Him will overflow into others. Its hard to love those who dont love us, especially when we dont know why, but Christ calls us to love even the unlovable, He did. Love them as Christ would love them, ""You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (Matthew 5:43-45). And realize that they are in the Lord's hands. You can only pray for them, and pray that the Lord would make them like Christ! And in turn let the Lord work on you! Let God show you where you need to grow, be changed, chastened, rebuked, stretched...there is a sweetness in being broken before an Almighty Father, coming with nothing, knowing you have nothing to offer, and asking Him to use you...and when He does, only He could recieve the glory!

PRAISE THE LORD!
"Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples." --1 Chronicles 16:24

Biblical not Judgmental

I recently read a blog from a very Godly man, and thought I would share some of it with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 – “Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”
"The Bible commands us to test things, to evaluate them and see if they meet God’s standard. The problem is that if we do this in the Christian church in our day and age we will be called judgmental. In fact, the best Bible teachers I have known in my life have all been called arrogant. I think that for a while now I have been afraid to be called these things myself. This has kept me silent. Nevertheless, there is a difference between being judgmental and exercising good judgment. We need to discern the things that pass the test and those that fail." -Bobbi Blakey

Standing up for the truth seems to always get you persecuted! However we as Christians were promised this...persecution! (John 15:20) But the bottom line is one day we will stand before the almighty God and all that will matter is that you can stand blameless before Him. And with the blood of Christ, God will look at you with His righteousness. Amazing! How sweet is that?!?!?!

When you feel like you are being attacked for evaluating writings, songs, bible studies, and even other Christians such as preachers to see if they meet God's standard...you aren't being judgemental, but rather BIBLICAL.

Live for Him, glorify Him in all you do and one day you will meet your Maker's face and here the beautiful longawaited words, "Well done my good and faithful servant!"

Living Outside the BUBBLE

Okay so living outside the bubble is what I wanted right?!?! Well yeah, except for the fact that you are thrown back into the wolves so to speak. I have sort of lived in this "bubble" for the last nine months, and I feel like the bubble burst and I was thrown back into the world, and not just any world, but the PIT! And to make matters worse, I am single again too...I mean thats always enjoyable, I love it, but it just adds to the problems. Anyways, here are just two examples of how wonderful the "gentleman" in our secular society behave...
Disneyland: My and Nikki are strolling along by Pirates one evening at Disneyland when out of no where this guy with some weird flasher on his shirt rubs up against me. My initial reaction is that well the crowds are big and this is disneyland...so of course I didn't think anything of it. Until he decides to have a conversation with us...small talk at first. I am ignoring him and pinching Nikki as if to give her then hint to get out of here, but she is a nice person and continues the small talk...that is until this "Gentleman" bluntly asks "Hey so do you girls want to go back with us guys to our hotel and drink?" WHAT?!?!?! Who does that...needless to say we said no. Yeah as Nikki pointed out they may have been attracted, but what is this world coming to? What the heck? I'm just really amazed at how low our society has become. You can only imagine what their true intentions are.
Saddleback: Then in my class, well I don't want to go into too much detail just in case this lovely person somehow reads this...but anyways, yeah something not so great happened.

And that's just the start! It breaks my heart. I in no way am claiming to be some perfect righteous person, but I am just realizing how lost our world really is and it is a constant reminder to be the salt and the light of the earth!
MATTHEW 5:12-14
"Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.""

Anyways, the one plus I have noticed is that there are many opportunities to witness and to be that living example of Christ. Its cool living outside the bubble...I don't want to be back in it, it is giving me a new found opportunity to cling to the Lord and to find my strength in Him. PRAISE GOD!!! :)

Remember...

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation." --2 Corinthians 1:3-7

Being September 11, I thought that my devotion this morning was very applicable. Life hurts!!! Whether you are a Christian or not, being a Christian doesn't exempt you from pain, suffering and tribulation, in fact sometimes your life is even harder. But there is an eternal promise that we can place our hope in! When we go through the fire, we are promised the comfort of our Lord and Savior, and not only that, but God uses suffering in our life to help others when they too experience pain and grief. We are Christ's chosen, His blessed, and like Him we will suffer...but keep your eyes on the King and when this day and age passes, we will be walking with Him on streets of gold!

WWJD? Faith that obeys...

I'm sure most of you remember the catchy slogan "WWJD?". There were bracelets, shirts, hats, and the list goes on with that short little phrase on it. And of course we all remember what it stood for...What would Jesus do? Supposedly, when you were found in a situation that could possibly compromise your faith, you were to be reminded of Jesus, by looking down at that bracelet you were wearing, and make your decision more appropriately. Did it work? That I don't know, but I do know that we are among a generation of lukewarm Christians, who compromise everday, who make decisions based off the fear of man rather then the fear of God, and who have a faith that so easily and so often disobeys rather then obeys.

Take a look back at people in the bible who had that faith...
"By faith Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went."—Hebrews 11:8.

Notice that it says, BY FAITH Abraham obeyed. Not because he was promised something, not because he was afraid of a punishment, but simply because He had faith in an all powerful God, He obeyed. Charles Spurgeon once said, "Surely, though we have had to mourn our disobedience with many tears and sighs, we now find joy in yielding ourselves as servants of the Lord: our deepest desire is to do the Lord's will in all things." The question then so easily comes up, why do we disobey? Why is it so hard to step out in faith and trust our Lord and Savior. FEAR! That is the bottom line. Whether it is a fear of the unkown, a fear of pain, a fear of man...whatever the case may be, we are scared. Although we know that God is faithful.."Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21). He has never let us down...I mean think about it, can you honestly think of a time that God didn't work all things together for good? That He didn't prove Himself faithful? Where He didn't provide an escape from the enemy? Where He didn't bless you? Probably not, because the truth is, God has our best intentions at heart. And like an earthly father, He knows what's best for us. Therefore when He calls us to do something, it is not because He wants to "rain on our parade", make us miserable, or ruin our lives, but rather that He wants to santify us, and make us more complete in Christ. "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:4) SANCTIFICATION! God is at work in our lives on a daily basis, molding us more and more into His image.

We are going to have trials...in fact we are promised that. If you aren't going through the fire then I would question my walk with the Lord. Compromising is probably taking place. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds..." (James 1:2). Consider it joy? How can you consider it joy? Think about it, each trial we face causes us to cling tighter to the Lord, causes us to trust more in His perfect provision, and causes us to have more faith...and the outcome? We become more like Christ! How amazing! When you go through a trial, you can run...compromise with the world, do what others tell you to do, take the easy way out...or you can go through the fire, face the battle with the armor of the Lord, endure the pain, and come out a more sanctified believer! I'd take the latter.

What would Jesus do? That simple phrase is actually a very important one. The next time you are in a situation where you have to make a tough decision...where you may be asked to compromise ask yourself that...and honestly act in the way Christ would!

Don't fear man...FEAR GOD! We don't stand before a man on judgment day, but rather a Soveriegn God. We don't answer to man, we answer to the Lord. There is nothing man can do to separate us from the love of Christ. Think about your life...seriously. Evaluate where you are going, what decisions you are making, why you are behaving the way that you are. Are you listening to the Lord's leading and direction? Is He telling you to do something, and you don't want to because it will make you uncomfortable, it will be too hard, people will make fun of you, you'll loose friends or family? What's more importnat...the approval of man, or the approval of a mighty GOD? And come'on...what would Jesus do?

"Genuine faith in God creates a prompt obedience. " --Charles Spurgeon
"Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith." --Romans 1:5
" leave this word with you. Remember, "By faith Abraham obeyed." Have faith in God, and then obey, obey, obey, and keep on obeying, until the Lord shall call you home. Obey on earth, and then you will have learned to obey in heaven. Obedience is the rehearsal of eternal bliss. Practice by obedience now the song which you will sing for ever in glory. God grant his grace to us! Amen." --Charles Spurgeon

"BY FAITH _________OBEYED!"

Love and NUMB3RS

So this morning I was reading 1 Corinthians and came to chapter 13...the chapter about biblical love. It really was so encouraging. We as Christians are nothing if we don't love one another. Loving those who love us is easy, but it is even harder to love those who don't love us, or treat us the way we think we should be treated. But we are called to show love as Christ showed love to us (John 3:16). We didn't deserve His love...yet He died for us. We are to imitate Him! "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails..." --1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Show love today, to those you love and to those who it is most hard to love. You will be amazed at how blessed your life will become! :)

NUMB3RS....

Can someone please answer me this simple question...when in my
life am I ever going to use functions? Math, I think its a wonderful think, its very important that I know, but what I don't understand and what I don't get is why we have to go so far up in math to the realms of "g"s and "f"s etc. etc. Have you ever used that in your daily life...right thats what I thought. So basically my theory is that some person years ago decided that they would just make all this up...it had to come from somewhere. So they just made all this up, and now today we are forced to learn it. Oh the joy...

This Day Brought to you by JESUS

I woke up this morning with a lot on my mind, and I decided to share something interesting with you all. When we wake up in the morning we have an outlook on the day...an outlook we decide to have. If we have nothing to do or we are going to the beach we might have a great outlook. If we are going to work or to school we might have a bad outlook. But the truth is we should have a great outlook everyday! This is the day that the Lord has made, we should rejoice and be glad in it! Seriously! Think about it...you have the privilege of waking up this morning, of going to work or to school and serving your Lord and Savior. Why not use this opportunity to glorify Him by being a light in the world.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. "Matthew 5:13

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light" --Ephesians 5:8

Go out today and live for Christ! Be an example to all those you come in contact with. And remember this day was brought to you by Jesus! :)

"If we cannot believe God when circumstances seem be against us, we do not believe Him at all." --Charles Spurgeon

Life of faith...

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." --Galatians 2:20 What an incredible life we have been called to! The Lord of all the universe has called me to a specific purpose and calling and He has allowed me to serve Him in that way! What a blessing and an absolute privilege. God has been doing a lot of transitioning, sanctifiying, and reshaping of my life in the past year. He has grown me, matured me, sretched me, taught me, and sanctified me in so many ways. It hasn't been easy, but nobody said that this life of faith would be easy...they only said that it would be worth it! I am so excited to see how God's plan will unfold. Although there is fear, hesitation, and confusion at time, there is this peace that surpasses all understanding and this hope that could only come from and be found in Christ alone! Sometimes we don't understand why God does things, but we aren't going to understand everything...but we don't need to worry, because the Lord of all the universe is holding us in His hand. Sometimes being "single" is hard...but look at it this way..."GOD'S NOT THROUGH WITH YOU YET! TODAY HE HAS CALLED YOU TO SINGLENESS. USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO FALL PASSIONATELY IN LOVE WITH YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. SERVE HIM WITH YOUR WHOLE HEART, AND GLORIFY HIM IN ALL YOU DO!"
